Great Delta Trail Master Plan

Delta, California

Zander Westbrook Design prepared the Great California Delta Trail Master Plan for the Delta Protection Commission. Our team was selected based on our experience working with diverse communities, including the agricultural and rural communities found in the Delta.

The Delta Trail is envisioned as a continuous trail connection between the San Francisco Bay Trail and Sacramento River Trail. But the trail has the potential to offer significantly more. The Master Plan embraces the unique complexities and contradictions of the Delta and charts a way to knit together the seemingly contradictory or disparate goals of both protecting and providing access to the Delta’s agricultural, cultural, natural, and water resources; developing a useful planning document without prescribing any specific routes or alignments; planning for both recreation opportunities and non-motorized transportation; and providing both local and regional access.
