Dumbarton Bridge to Quarry Lakes Trail

City of Fremont, California

Zander Westbrook Design is working with Alta to prepare 35% design plans for an 8.5-mile Class I trail in Fremont. When complete, the trail will connect the Dumbarton Bridge to Quarry Lakes Regional Park. Along the route, the trail will also link to three other regional parks, several suburban neighborhoods, an office development, and future mixed-use projects.

The project team is developing conceptual and 35% plans for the trail as both a transportation and recreation corridor. The trail passes through and responds to several distinct conditions: along a freeway, adjacent to wetlands, through parklands, through residential neighborhoods, and along suburban arterial roadways. In most locations, the trail is 8-10 feet wide, but the configuration varies depending on the context. In each location, the trail will provide safe multimodal access.

Zander Westbrook Design’s role has focused on access points, wayfinding, context-sensitive design, and project continuity.
