San Mateo County Coastal Trail Feasibility Study

San Mateo County, California

Zander Westbrook Design analyzed the feasibility of completing 18 miles of the California Coastal Trail and six (6) crossings within the State Route 1 right-of-way and State Parks lands in San Mateo County. The study begins at the Santa Cruz County Line and runs to the southern limits of the City of Half Moon Bay, with many segments examining the Coastal Trail connections within and between the coastside State Parks. Zander Westbrook Design facilitated a project advisory committee (PAC) with the project partners including Caltrans, State Parks, Coastal Commission, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, County Roads, Coastal Conservancy, and others. Additionally, the project includes preliminary community outreach to help prioritize and inform design of the study segments.
