Great Redwood Trail

California

The Great Redwood Trail is a 320-mile, world-class, multi-use rail-to-trail project connecting California’s San Francisco and Humboldt Bays. This legacy trail will travel through some of the wildest and most scenic landscapes in the United States, traversing old growth redwood forests, running alongside oak woodlands and vineyards, and winding through the magnificent Eel River Canyon.

Zander Westbrook Design is supporting the project team in the outreach and development of conceptual designs for trail town segments along the route. As part of our work, we held a design charrette with community members in Hopland, a former rail town and potential trail town. Our team developed a charette activity that allowed community members to identify and plan their vision for the former Hopland rail depot property.
